Audio recognition

Recording starts only after you choose to start and your browser allows microphone access. You may instead choose an audio file. Your browser prepares a short excerpt and sends it to our recognition service. We process audio temporarily in memory, without saving recordings to files, object storage or a recording history. Your original selected file remains on your device. Cancelling or leaving stops microphone capture; a request already received may finish or time out before memory is released.

Our service derives an acoustic fingerprint and sends it to NetEase Cloud Music for matching. NetEase’s processing and retention are governed by its own policies; we cannot extend our no-audio-storage statement to its retention of fingerprints. Recognition can be incorrect, particularly for humming. Avoid recording private conversations.

Usage data and temporary navigation state

We use Google Analytics to understand visits, device and browser categories, approximate country, traffic sources, recording attempts, request outcomes, guide views and clicks, and optional feedback. These analytics events do not contain audio, fingerprints, filenames or returned song titles. Cookies or similar identifiers may be used for analytics.

For guide navigation, this tab may temporarily remember a guide category, selected route, entry location and timestamp in session storage. This lets us distinguish returning from help from visiting the tool directly. We do not create a personal profile or store an audio sample in this state; it expires for attribution after 30 minutes and is removed when the browser clears the tab’s session storage. Blocking storage does not prevent use of the tool or guides.

Hosting services process basic technical request information for delivery, security and diagnostics. Our recognition endpoint uses short-lived counters based on a hash of the request’s network address to limit abuse. A hash does not make that data anonymous. Counter entries expire after about one minute; hosting log retention is separately controlled by the hosting provider’s settings, not this counter.

Optional session replay

Microsoft Clarity loads after you allow optional replay analysis in the site prompt. It records interactions and technical information on this website; form content is masked. We do not send recordings to Clarity, and it cannot record your activity on external sites through this integration.

Use “Replay privacy settings” at the bottom of the page to change your choice. The preference is stored in your browser for up to 180 days. Withdrawing permission reloads the page to stop the loaded script; it does not automatically erase earlier data. This setting controls Clarity, not all Google analytics or advertising. Google advertising and consent

This site includes Google AdSense verification and, on eligible content pages, advertising code. Code presence does not mean Google has approved the site or is serving ads. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies for ad delivery and measurement, subject to applicable consent requirements and your choices.

Where Google’s European-regulations message is shown, use its options to accept, decline or manage advertising choices. Clarity’s replay prompt is separate from this advertising message. You can also manage browser cookies and Google ad preferences. Learn how Google uses data from partner sites.

When the Google consent interface is available on the homepage, “Privacy and cookie settings” in its footer lets you reopen your advertising choices.

Contact, legacy submissions and retention

The former tool-submission form is no longer available. If you previously submitted a tool or contact information, you may ask about or request deletion of those historical details by email. We do not assume historical records have been deleted merely because the form was removed.

If you email us, we use the message to respond, investigate the issue and keep necessary correspondence. Service providers may process limited information to host the site, analyze usage, handle support, match recordings or deliver ads. We do not sell personal information. Retention of analytics and hosting data depends on those services and configured settings; contact us about a specific request. We may retain information where required for security or legal obligations.

External services and children

External links open independent services with their own privacy policies. HumToSearch is intended for a general audience, not children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe such information was submitted.
